Applications are now closed

Following the successful launch of the pioneering Next Gen Board in 2023, the PPA is excited to open applications for the 2025-2026 cohort. This initiative is a vital part of the PPA’s strategy to amplify younger voices and foster inclusivity across the magazine and specialist media sector.

The PPA Next Gen Board serves as a platform for young professionals to help shape the future of our industry, tackling key challenges and opportunities alongside the main PPA Board. The Board consists of up to 20 members, all 35 years of age and under, with at least three years of industry experience - representing a wide range of backgrounds and skills from across B2B and B2C publishing businesses.

How will it work?

The Next Gen Board mirrors the operations of the main PPA Board, meeting formally each quarter. Members will collaborate on projects aligned with the PPA’s strategic objectives, offering fresh perspectives on industry challenges and opportunities.

Each member will serve an 18-month term, with up to five members from the previous cohort staying on for an additional six months to support the transition and ensure continuity. The Board will be chaired by an appointed member, with the support of senior industry mentors, providing invaluable experience of operating at board level.

During your tenure, you will have the opportunity to work on projects that will shape the future of the industry, collaborate with senior leaders on the PPA Board of Directors, build your professional profile, and establish yourself as a future leader in media.

We're looking for applicants who:

  • Are employed by a PPA member business (check here to double check if you’re not sure).
  • Are 35-years of age and under when applications close on 24 October 2024.
  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience in the media or publishing industries.

We are looking for individuals passionate about the magazine and specialist media sectors, and who want to make a difference, championing innovation in our industry.

What is expected of me as a PPA Next Gen Board Member?

As a PPA Next Gen Board member, you will serve as an ambassador for the magazine and specialist media industry. You will work collaboratively with peers from competitor businesses, sharing ideas and working towards common goals for the betterment of the entire sector.

Being part of the Next Gen Board requires a time commitment, with quarterly meetings and ongoing participation in projects between meetings. These projects will require collaboration, creativity, and proactive engagement.

Your role will also provide networking opportunities, connecting you with current industry leaders and giving you a platform to voice your insights on the industry's challenges and opportunities.
